In real life, I am a wife, mom and grandma, and a retired school teacher who can't seem to stop teaching.
I was born and raised in a small, rural, upstate New York farming community not far from my current home, but I have also lived in a couple of the western states and Alaska.
I was born into a family of teachers. A great aunt, three of my aunts, an uncle, my mother, and three of my cousins were all teachers. There was never much question of what I would do when I grew up - though for a while I did entertain ideas of becoming a forest ranger.
Before retirement, these are some of the things that I did:
I try to walk my path in balance and harmony. Currently I am concentrating on my physical health (diet and exercise) and stretching my brain (learning graphics and Web Page making). And I still find ways to teach things to people.
My daddy grew up on a small family farm in the early 1900's. There were his granddad, dad, and several uncles to do the farm work. Although he did have his chores to do, he was also allowed to spend a lot of his time on his own out in the fields and woods learning about the creatures who lived there.
Some of the animals that he came to know were the crows. He learned about their ways and he learned to talk to them in their own language. As a young child, I remember his standing at our backdoor and calling to the crows. They would answer back and come to talk. My daddy seemed to understand what they were saying and he could answer them.
I never learned to talk to them in their language. Although, I do have some understanding of the meaning of some of their many different calls. I often talk to them in my language. They answer back in theirs. Most of the time I just "think" to them. It is hard to explain how it works - basically we communicate in "mental pictures" and "feelings". Wherever I live, soon there are crows who come to make friends with me.
The content of these forums is roughly similar to that of some of the web sites listed to the above - however - the forum format lends itself to interaction and conversation. Please visit me there to talk about things. I like to help beginners when I can.
